Highs & Lows

  • The hotel spa doesn’t look like much, but dished out the best back massage I’ve ever had.

  • The rooms come with all manner of resort robes, throws and stripy djellabas that you’ll never want to take off.

  • Prepare to make friends. The crowd is social, especially around the hot tub, but equally laid-back, so you won’t feel invaded.

  • ‘Laid-back’ also applies to the hotel’s employees, who are utterly charming, helpful and impervious to urgency.

  • The Amigo Room bar is worth a look, but its gloomy, cavern-like vibe was lost on me.

  • There was some building work going on near the pool during our stay, which was a bit noisy.
