There are tons of old trucks in Marfa,
this one welcomes you to the hotel.

El Cosmico The colorful lobby plays great music, serves coffee at 8am, and sells a bunch of great stuff too. Those pillows are amazing.

El Cosmico This is where we slept. No frills, but a lovely Bolivian blanket. Rustic + romantic.

Highs & Lows

  • The landscape and sense of freedom you get here is hard to explain. You see millions of stars and hear nature and laughter around from other people in their tents… come open-minded!

  • The décor and gift shop are awesome. I wanted to take home everything in the lobby!!

  • Considering we were sleeping in a tent, the bed was very comfortable and the blankets were warm.

  • The website was great, easy to navigate, and gives good suggestions for things to see and do around Marfa.

  • The shared bathroom was very open… I'm not sure it even locked properly.

  • The tents and teepees don’t have locks, so we had our luggage in the car.

Important Bits

  • Type

    Campground / Teepees & Tents.

  • Vibe

Hippies, hipsters, cyclists and gallerists hanging out under the stars.

  • Location

Great location since you will most likely have a car or a bike to get into town, which is down the street.

  • Rooms

8 Safari Tents, 4 Scout Tents, 2 Teepees, 6 RVs and open camp grounds to bring your own tent.

  • Music

    Indie stuff.

  • Year Opened

    2009

  • Designed By

    Liz Lambert

  • Health & Wellness

No, but you can rent a hot tub.

  • Restaurant

No, but there is an outdoor kitchen area if you want to cook up something for yourself.

  • Bar

No, but bottles of wine are available in the lobby to bring back to your tent or teepee.

  • Children

You could, but then go for an RV, the teepee and tent areas are on the quiet side. I can see kids loving this place.

  • Price

Some might find it overpriced for what you get, but I found it to be very reasonable for the experience.
