South Indian getaway.
Me and my boyfriend.
Our room, the Malabar suite, with its Havisham-vibes four-poster bed.
Tasteful decor, and a peek at our suite’s second bedroom, which would have come in handy if we’d had children. Or an argument.
Approximately a tenth of our ballroom-sized shower room.
My favourite design detail: the window shutters are made of irregular slats of cut oyster shells, which let in beautifully filtered light.
Antique furniture in the drawing room.
Pretty floor tiles in the lobby.
Siolim House’s garden courtyard, where breakfast is served.
Hand-painted mural selfie.
Siolim House gives good façade.
Highs + Lows
Scale was not compromised in the house’s restoration; the superior rooms and their en-suite bathrooms are huge.
Plenty of cozy lounging areas too, such as the upstairs sitting room, and a tree house-like nook overlooking the pool.
Kate Moss once rented Siolim House for a week. Which shouldn’t count as any kind of relevant incentive to stay there, and yet it does.
No reception desk and laid-back staff meant we had to walk into the kitchen to find someone to check us in on arrival.
