The Ampersand hotel
by: Isa Tapia
Work, checking in with my business partners after Paris fashion week.
I love flowers and colorful blooms...this made me feel welcome and happy.
The cozy but fun and colorful living room, the perfect place to read the morning paper with your coffee before a busy day.
Spread of homemade cookies, biscuits and cakes for the afternoon tea service is a must.
Afternoon tea spread.
I love the light fixtures. These fluttery angel wings greeted me upon arrival. I'm also obsessed with the velvet staircase.
I found some inspiration in the books in the room...great little detail that gave me some ideas for adding birds in my next shoe collection.
The king bed was extra comfy with the perfect down duvets - it made it hard to get out of bed in the morning.
My sketchbooks and mood boards.
The outside of the hotel is very welcoming - it felt intimate, like I was a guest at friends who lived in a wonderful townhouse. It has that classic, cozy and inviting feel of old school B&B with the service and details of a modern hotel.
Highs + Lows
Location, location, location.
Great living room and tea area for lounging and relaxing.
The bed was very comfortable , down comforters and pillows.
Minibar selection was not impressive.
My room was street level so it was a little noisy on a Thursday night.
Limited room service menu and hours.

Boutique luxury hotel.
Cozy, sexy with a pop of kitsch.
One of the best qualities of the hotel (besides the boutique cozy feeling) is the location. It's across the street from the Knightsbridge tube station. There's a taxi stand and bus stop literary in front of the hotel. It's walking distance to the best shopping is two blocks down. It's a also very close to Hyde Park if you like a morning run. I also loved that it didn't look like a hotel - the taxi driver drove past it twice.

Yes very good, modern food - clean and to the point. Great selection of wines and the perfect place for a foggy fall London night.
Yes and yes!
Leave them at home.
Affordable luxury...not bad for London and the rooms are bigger than what you usually get.
A must for anyone visiting London. It's great for a workout or a weekend walk and a good place to participate in London culture and hear what people are talking about, how they live their daily life. The pond and galleries are great for spotting new artists. The London art scene is currently my favorite.
