Richmond upon Thames
by: Alicja McCarthy
A weekend away.
The boy & I.
After a hard day of roaming around Richmond all you need is a little night cap-served in your room. Lovely.
Our cosy ‘Callirrhoe’ room named after poet 'Michael Field' AKA Katherine Bradley and Edith Cooper who lived there in 1900s. The room had a luxurious four-poster bed with cotton linen and mohair blanket.
The Bingham bar is blessed with Georgian features including double height ceiling in the bar, large fire places, decorative mirrors and charm.
The restaurant has some of the prettiest views on the River
Thames in Richmond.
Our room facing the river. Can the weeping willows and colours of Autumn be any more romantic?
The view of the hotel from the towpath, the townhouse in its original form.
The ornate ceiling in the bar with crystal drop chandelier. The interiors are opulent and classic in keeping with the history of the hotel.
We took their Pashley bikes out for a spin to Richmond Park in search of the free roaming wild deer.
And we found some!! If you squint either side of the tree you can see the deer grazing.
The restaurant is quite delightful. My favourite dish was the stone bass with langoustine, crones & cima di rapa. Yum!
An understated Bingham entrance to the Grade II listed building.
Highs + Lows
The service is impeccable. The team is sincere, helpful and genuinely wants to be there.
The restaurant is particularly good.
Views to die for!
Great little cocktail bar.
No access to spa or gym.
There is not a smoking area. No heater or ashtrays so smokers must puff away at the front of the hotel.

Elegant, enchanting, comfortable.
Richmond feels like a village but is on the London Overground. It is also just off the North Circular so very accessible.

Yes. A brand new menu by Mark Jarvis is a must!
Yes, cocktails are superb, but wine list (book) is a little intimidating.
Yes and included.
Sure, although I’d leave them behind for a bit of peace and quiet.
Expensive, but worth it.
