Highs & Lows

  • Stunning design with numerous areas to relax and enjoy picture perfect views, nature and tranquility. There are Indian swings and chandeliers, all bespoke and boasting bright colors, on every corner and floor of the large castle.

  • The Castle Bijaipur is adjacent to a wildlife sanctuary, where guests can find such wildlife as leopards, chinkaras, spotted deer, birds, crocodiles and wild boar. For recreation, guests can enjoy jeep and camel safaris, horseback riding, mountain trekking, visits to nearby Pangarh Fort or boating and fishing in Lotus Lake.

  • The food is all organic and sourced from their nature patch and local villages! I fell in love with the fresh carrot juice and ginger tea.

  • Room service is not included, although they will bring drinks to room upon request.

  • The restaurant is very simple in design compared to the decadence and luxury of the rest of the hotel. The team are however incredible and their head waiter Yogi is an incredible character.

  • Make sure you check the weather as it can be very cold in winter and very hot in summer in Rajasthan.

Important Bits

  • Type

    Indian Castle

  • Vibe

Stunning and relaxing luxury Indian haven.

  • Location

Central location. Incredible links for travel, next to Monmarte and a short taxi ride from all the hotspots.

  • Rooms

30 rooms, of which 6 are royal suites

  • Music

Traditional Indian performances and live music a couple of nights a week. Otherwise, the sound of wild nature surrounds the castle.

  • Year Opened

16th century castle offering a bewitching blend of the Mughal and Colonial architectural styles.

  • Designed By

    Previous kings of Bijaipur.

  • Pool/Gym

Outdoor pool, treatment rooms, horse stables and yoga classes.

  • Restaurant

The on-site restaurant is quite basic, but the food is incredible. They serve an array of local, Indian, Chinese and Continental cuisine. The family kitchen sources its ingredients from both the village and its own garden. Try their fresh carrot juice, ginger tea and seasonal curries and sign up for their cooking courses. On warm evenings, the poolside transforms into a candlelit culinary haven. Also sample the local hot spices. They have gluten-free and dairy free options!

  • Bar

Yes, the outdoor is setup in a traditional Indian display. No cocktails, but a great selection of spirits and wines.

  • Wifi

Free WiFi at reception. Very slow so the team there can help you book or sort travel and heavy loading websites.

  • Children

No children spotted and probably best suited for friends and couples.

  • Price

    Medium-expensive luxury.
