  • Where:Malibu, California

  • Why:Staycation for a long weekend.

  • When:Labor Day Weekend.

  • Who:My mom and me.

Highs & Lows

  • The hotel is situated on PCH steps away from Surfrider Beach and walking distance from Malibu Pier, Nobu and Malibu Country Mart.

  • Every space in the hotel is beautifully designed with hammocks, throw pillows, magazines and artwork.

  • The Surfrider offers surfboards, paddleboards, and wetsuits for guests. All of the rooms include Grown Alchemist toiletries, cozy Parachute Home robes and a minibar stocked with California snacks and treats.

  • The cool guests-only roof deck serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and overlooks PCH and Surfrider Beach. A great space to hang out with friends or relax and read a book.

  • Noise. Although the Malibu location is convenient, there is a lot of street noise coming from PCH – bring earplugs!

  • Parking. While the $15 a night rate is reasonable, the lot is tight and it isn’t always easy to get a spot.
