During her 30-year tenure at Rolling Stone Magazine, the renowned photo editor, Jodi Peckman, became fascinated by images of celebrities passing through airports. The result of this archiving is “Come Fly With Me”; a wistful love letter to the jet-set. This joyous compendium of 80 color and black and white images serves not only as a nostalgic nod to a bygone era of glamorous air travel, but a playful record of celebrity, travel, and fashion, “from the days when Marilyn Monroe disembarked in fur to when Justin Bieber arrived in sweatpants and a baseball cap.” Paparazzi pictures, Diana Vreeland argued, always “catch something unintended, on the wing . . . they get that thing. It’s the revelation of personality,” and nowhere is this more evident than in these images of Dolly Parton’s theatrical star jump to Joan Collins at baggage – her porter piled high with matching monogrammed Louis Vuitton luggage.

“Come Fly With Me” is out now, published by Rizzoli.
