AHL Playlist: Ben’s Domestic Disco

Stay at home but dance

Two weeks of quarantine have gone by, and for those stuck at home, I think we can all agree we’ve had enough of our own boredom and gloom. We have immense luxuries in our lives like Netflix, FaceTime, and contact-less delivery, as well as our own creativity and ingenuity which has led to virtual fitness classes, cooking workshops, bedroom concerts, and lively panels. So let’s go into this weekend with a little positive energy, this time courtesy of A Hotel Life founder Ben Pundole.

Just yesterday Ben appeared on a live discussion with Lily Kwong about the dire state of hotels amid the global crisis, and his message was clear: we’re resilient. We’ll bounce back, re-employ our workers, and inevitably find a way back to normalcy (though, hopefully with some more perspective). Hours later Ben created a playlist that’s brimming with that same optimism, a mix of disco, dance, and delight from decades past. Grace Jones to Soul II Soul to Peggy Gou, his playlist will perfectly guide you into a weekend in which you’re not ‘stuck at home’ but rather are presented with a rare opportunity to find yourself without the hustle of day-to-day life. Plus it makes the perfect soundtrack to all those Houseparty calls, Zoom happy hours, and Instagram live stories that are becoming more fun each day. Stay healthy, stay positive, and groove on until we get to the light at the end of the tunnel.
