With the BAM Rose Cinemas reopening on Friday, June 11th, New Yorkers have a little more to celebrate. All Covid-19 protocols in check, the Brooklyn venue is opening its doors to in-person visits for the first time in over a year. Committed to providing a safe experience, the reopening comes with a few mandates — such as compulsory masks and assigned seating.

Later in the month, BAMcinemaFest is back on the block for its 2021 edition, with a promising week of electrifying films and events, including five New York premieres. The lineup includes Bassam Tariq’s Mogul Mowgli, starring Riz Ahmed, and the world premiere of Ougie Pak’s Clytaemnestra — plus an artist spotlight on the work of Fox Maxy, one-of-a-kind shorts programs, and filmmaker Q&As, the Fest is a long-standing name, reputed for giving indie cinema a center stage. BAM (Brooklyn Music Academy) has hosted the annual fair since 2009, cancelling only last year owing to the pandemic. Going completely virtual this time around, the Fest is ready to welcome audiences from all over. This year’s BAMcinemaFest, a celebration of local filmmakers and their talent, is scheduled to take place between June 23 – 29 with tickets going on sale Wednesday, June 23rd.
