Located in the heart of Berlin’s Mitte, Château Royal is crafted by people who have lived, loved, and breathed the stories of the historic city through and through. It gets its bearings from the makers and keepers of hospitality — Stephan Landwehr, co-founder of Grill Royal, long-time manager Moritz Estermann, and the Icelandic chef Victoria Eliasdóttir. The trio’s long collaborative history has now seamlessly culminated in the making and grooming of Chateau Royal as an intersection of design, art, and gastronomy.

With 93 rooms, 26 suites, and an apartment, the striking corner building is parallel to Unter den Linden, just a few minutes walk from the Brandenburg Gate. The excitement of the exterior is matched inside with turn-of-the-century details, including the “Berlin terrazzo,” colorful marble, and herringbone parquet. The hotel is housed in two listed buildings from 1850 and 1910, embodying the city’s history and giving guests a unique look into the past.

Rose to fame from her restaurant, “dóttir,” Victoria heads culinary magic at Château Royal and dreams up an experience attuned to seasonal produce and ethical production. The hotel also boasts an impressive art collection dotted throughout the public areas and rooms, curated by former gallerist Kirsten Landwehr in collaboration with Krist Gruijhtuisen. From carefully selected vintage furniture and rugs to the intricate craftsmanship of the sweeping staircase, Château Royal is a celebration of all that it means to be in Berlin that can only be experienced by witnessing its brilliance in person.
