WE LOVE YOUR WEBSITE - TELL US A BIT ABOUT HOW IT CAME TO BE.
About eight years ago I was working in New York and feeling generally disconnected from city life. I booked a one-way ticket to Italy and started a travel blog about my expat life. My writing wasn’t particularly profound, it was more of a diary, but at that time there were only a dozen travel blogs out there. I got to know the industry from its inception. I haven’t looked back since.

WHAT IS THE MOST MEMORABLE JOURNEY YOU’VE BEEN ON?
My first Burning Man, 2014. A journey of epic proportions. A huge rain storm hit just as a mass exodus of 70,000 people were trying to enter the gates. The event shut down and I spent 72 hours in a muddy queue of the most infectious energy imaginable. It was a frenzied feeling, something indescribable. DJs made makeshift setups on top of RVs to entertain the masses. Neighbors in line became friends. By the time we got to the actual burn I had already experienced an amazing journey. What unfolded proved to be one of the best weeks of my life.

ANY NOTABLE TRAVEL MISHAPS?
A few years ago in Rome, I hailed a taxi and threw in my luggage. Before I had a chance to get in car, the driver stepped on the gas and hightailed it down the street. At first I thought it was a misunderstanding and that he would stop once he realized I was not in the car. He didn’t. Among many material objects that I would forget about over the years, I’ll never forget that I lost a hard drive with about four years worth of travel photos and videos. I learned the hard way to back up my drives!

WHAT INSPIRES YOU DAILY?
The process of creating something (anything) is infinitely inspiring. Having an idea, collaborating with others to see it though, witnessing the finished product, it’s a beautiful and intense process. I have to feel passionate about my work and staying in a creative space fuels that passion.

ANY TRENDS THAT HAVE CAUGHT YOUR ATTENTION IN THE TRAVEL & HOSPITALITY WORLD?
I’m so on board with the wave of wellness experiences being curated in the travel industry over the past several years. I like to know that I can maintain a clean diet when I’m traveling. Something that was easier said than done a decade ago.

WHERE WILL YOU BE ON YOUR NEXT DAY OFF?
Barefoot in a beach bungalow in Southampton.

WHERE WILL YOU BE A FEW YEARS FROM NOW?
I fell into this world quite by chance so who knows what other serendipitous events will alter the course of the next few years. I hope to be living a full life, breathing it all in and loving it all out.
