  • WHAT DO YOU DO?

I'm a freelance writer and also co-run the travel website Jungles in Paris with my brother.

  • TELL US ABOUT JUNGLES IN PARIS AND HOW IT CAME TO BE.

My brother and I wanted to make a site that highlights interesting, surprising, lesser-known pockets of the planet. So we took my background in film criticism and travel writing and his expertise in film direction and production. Put the two together. And got ourselves Jungles in Paris. The 2.5 years since we launched have been full of great trips, amazing people, and fascinating new perspectives.

  • WHAT IS THE MOST MEMORABLE JOURNEY JUNGLES IN PARIS HAS TAKEN YOU ON?

The Serengeti, easily one of the most beautiful places on earth. And a parade of wildlife that is endlessly interesting.

  • HOW ABOUT ANY NOTABLE TRAVEL MISHAPS?

    Luckily, not yet.

  • ANY RECENT TRAVEL TRENDS THAT HAVE CAUGHT YOUR ATTENTION?

The fact that everyone is going to Cuba.

  • WHAT INSPIRES YOU DAILY?

The way intrepid writers and filmmakers used to travel.

  • FAVORITE HOTEL IN THE WORLD?

The Sextantio Santo Stefano, in Abruzzo, Italy. Magical and medieval. Like entering a wrinkle in time. And not expensive at all.

  • ANY DESTINATIONS ON YOUR 2016 TRAVEL WISHLIST WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT?

    I'm dreaming of Patagonia.

  • WHERE WILL YOU BE ON YOUR NEXT DAY OFF?

The Catskills. Playing pond hockey, if the ice ever freezes this winter.

  • WHERE WILL YOU BE A FEW YEARS FROM NOW?

Maybe the Catskills then too. Or farther north, if that's what it takes to get pond ice. For now being Brooklyn-based suits me pretty well.
