Highs & Lows

  • The memories: this is truly an unforgettable experience.

  • Privacy – a junk boat for two!

  • The service – our butler Tien took care of everything!

  • The scenery: Ha Long Bay, what more can I say.

  • The food: fresh fish from the floating village.

  • Just remember you’re off the grid. Dietary requests should be planned in advance. Wine selection is ok, but if you have specific tastes pack your own. The crew will serve on request. And don’t forget any essentials!

Important Bits

  • Type

Junk boat charter (the term "junk boat" formerly applied to traditional Chinese fishing boats... now it refers to any motorized pleasure vessels).

  • Vibe

    Gilligan’s Island gone luxe.

  • Location

165 km from Hanoi of the north coast of Vietnam, Ha Long Bay sits on the Gulf of Tokin. Departing from Ha Long Bay’s port, the journey takes you deep through the Unesco World Heritage site made of 3000 islands and rocky limestone outcrops.

  • Rooms

Three, but you charter the whole boat.

  • Music

As you please. An iPod with various playlists is available on deck – request the ‘lunch’ mix, or bring your own.

  • Year Opened

The first vessel set sail in 2007.

  • Designed By

A collaboration between 80-year old Master ship builder, Nguyen Van Hoa and French Architect Antoine Bertrand, The Bahaya’s design was inspired by the fleet of Vietnamese Emperor Khai Dinh.

  • Health & Wellness

    No.

  • Restaurant

Yes. The private charter includes a personal chef. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served on deck, or below in the cozy dining area. Lunch and dinner are both four courses, breakfast is western or local style.

  • Bar

Not in the traditional sense, but an amazing personal butler keeps bubbles flowing!

  • Minibar

No mini bar, cabins are stocked with water and coffee.

  • Children

Sure… but maybe not the little ones.

  • Price

Pretty great…given the charter includes all meals and activities, plus a dedicated crew of 4. The price depends on season, and since you pay for the vessel, bring some friends.
