"Old-world glamour in a restored 16th-century Mérida villa"

Old-world glamour with a Yucatán cadence. Arched corridors, polished details, the low hum of city life just beyond its doors, plus regional food and a spa life to live for. Set within a restored colonial property in Mérida’s historic center, the hotel’s intimate courtyard pool leads to treatment rooms that lean into local traditions like Mayan herbal treatments and temazcal-inspired steam rituals.

Highs & Lows

  • The whatsapp chat with the front desk is available upon check in and for the duration of your stay – from a chauffeur, to a massage, or a cocktail, it's all the tip of your fingers.

  • Design at its best. Thoughtful, full of little surprises, and touched with their signature soft pink. The courtyard sits below on the first floor, and the restaurant on the second is wrapped in the tops of the almond trees, with black-and-white checkered floors below anchoring the scene.

  • The circulation of the space is beautifully thought through, with three different staircases leading upstairs from key points.. The front entrance, the pool, and the bar. A modern spiral staircase at the front cuts through it all, creating this past and present contrast. The pool staircase overlooks the old cistern and takes you up to the rooms + restaurant, while the one by the bar practically dares you to stop for a cheeky drink on your way up.

  • If you're out late, don't miss the incredibly inconspicuous doorbell on the right of the door to get back in ;)

Important Bits

  • Type

    Luxury Lifestyle

  • Vibe

Juan Rulfo meets Wes Anderson. Old-world Yucatán filtered through effortless Habita cool. Serene, cinematic.. Dreamlike.

  • Location

The hotel feels like a hidden oasis in downtown Mérida. We arrived at what looked like a nondescript building from the street, but the moment we stepped through the double doors, the bustling city outside disappeared. We found ourselves inside an impeccably  restored 19th-century stately home, centered around a stunning pool, evoking the old water cisterns that are so characteristic of haciendas, with rooms wrapped all around it.

  • Rooms

    21 ish

  • Pre-Arrival & Arrival Experience

I’m a longtime Grupo Habita fan. Their design instincts are always spot on. Booking was effortless, and we didn’t plan much in advance as we wanted to let the weekend surprise us.

  • Future Forward

Each room has a virtual guide with local tips, and a QR code lets guests download the hotel’s music playlist

  • Music

Khruangbin + Hermanos Gutiérrez. A little moody, a little dusty, slightly romantic.

  • Year Opened

    2026

  • Designed By

Designed by Zeller & Moye in collaboration with local architect Carlos Cuevas

  • Health & Wellness

The spa (which you can literally swim into) is built of natural stone and inspired by the depths of cenotes. IA hammam, a Tuj sauna, and a cold plunge. You can book either private or communal sessions, all come with a facial mud, bath salts, and an herbal tea—indulgent and grounding, the space was womb-like. There's also a full on massage menu.

  • Food

We arrived quite early, so straight to breakfast and went all in! The enchiladas suizas with green sauce, pancakes, and the chaya and cheese omelet were standouts, plus the fruit plate of course – produce from the Yucatan is unbeatable. Later on, poolside snacks were in order. The guacamole and catch of the day crudo with virgin sauce ended up on repeat the whole weekend.

  • Bar, Events & Nightlife

Past the pool, banyan tree, and tucked upstairs inside a minimal concrete tree house is the spot for mezcalitas. Anointed by friend and Yucatan fixture, Laura Kirar, as the new place to be – the hotel bar is where the magic happens – we came in as strangers and by last call we'd met friends, their moms, and made weekend plans.

  • Minibar & Retail

Oops, totally passed on this one, even if it was beautiful and fully stocked. I have a weakness for a well stocked oxxo, and there's one across the street right next to the pharmacy. The merch though was killer, cute bucket hats and more, but the jelly sandals were the stand outs.

  • Accessibility

For being sited in a historical home, the accessibility upgrades are of note. An elegantly placed elevator facilitates access to all floors.

  • Pet Friendly

50 USD per pet per night, with advance notice

  • Children

    No one under age 12!

  • Price

High end for the neighborhood but still a reasonable rate for international travelers
