Highs & Lows

  • The experience is rewarding in that you feel like you are taken back in time or time stands still. Although the house is beautiful and the design is really well done, you feel like you can relax.

  • The morning breakfast was spectacular the ingredients are so fresh, but the settings and vibe really makes it feel like more than a free breakfast at a regular inn. If it was a stand alone restaurant I would ease into Sunday every weekend here and drive the three hours from the city to do so.

  • Frank and Scott are lovely and aspirational inn keepers, talented artists and I am sure they will have a coffee table book shortly filled with gracious living tips.

  • I loved the books and incredible selection of artifacts to adore and cherish or pick up and read.

  • FANTASTIC views and great cocktail snacks.

  • I think there could have been a fire on and music on in the great drawing rooms all day and early evening.

Important Bits

  • Type

Chic inn living; a historical house built in 1792. A perfect canvas for anyone who loves interior design, gardening and of course the amazing cooking Scott and Frank both share. They are expert entertainers.

  • Vibe

An art directors dream, so well decorated and lovely artifacts and flowers, every room feels like a vignette or as still life. Jojo felt completely at home as she paraded around the wood floors like a little deer. They have a beautiful pooch who mingled with her.

  • Location

Nestled in the bucolic landscape of the Berkshire Hills, a distinctly modern setting of impressive Georgian architecture from 1792.

  • Rooms

    5

  • Music

During breakfast they had a roaring fire that took you back in time to 1700’s. The crackling wood complimented the snow falling outside. Frank had music playing also, very soft and relaxing, but I didn’t hear anything else during the evening cocktail moments.

  • Year Opened

    This year.

  • Designed By

A fashion designer and restauranteur who fall in love first with each other, then a historic estate with rich history. Frank Muytjens a former men’s creative director for J crew and his husband Scott Edward Cole the worlds best baker have restored its magic collectively. Well appointed and spectacular taste the two have built something memorable and worth a stay for anyone who loves details.

  • Health & Wellness

No but plenty of land to walk, run, snow shoe, hike and of course give Jolene free range. The property is very expansive and Frank and Scott have big future plans. I want to keep this place a secret!

  • Restaurant

There are great local spots for sure so not a big deal they don’t have a restaurant. They do offer a full breakfast in the morning and its dreamy delicious. Scott, a former bakery owner, hand rolls croissants and Frank makes farm fresh quiche and local crispy bacon. You wake up to a heavenly smell and it is humbly presented. Simple and gorgeous.

  • Bar

YES its a house bar you can use anytime, fully stocked with libations. During cocktail hour around 5pm, they set out the most delicious house made cheese biscuits and nuts. Jojo was prancing around when she smelled them come out of the oven, such a circus dog. Frank and Scott build a fire and it’s just cozy and charming. Social but not a party, quiet but friendly.

  • Minibar

No mini bar, but they have amazing books to read, Aesop amenities and fresh flowers in your room perfectly placed. It feels natural and chic not staged or contrived.

  • Children

Furry friends are allowed. *pre-approval needed.

  • Price

    A little spendy...but worth it.
