Cielomar rooftop restaurant and bar at sunset is big sky bliss.

Looking down to Viceroy's mirror waters from Cielomar.

Viceroy’s spacious rooms nail the “minimal yet plush” combo.

Walking on water again.

Rooms that can’t be flawed and a bed that looks ready for take off.

The magical mirror-waters are everywhere here…

‘The Nest’ is home to a truly excellent cevicheria called Nido.

Wind through painterly passages and tunnels to reach the beach.

The foyer of luxe onsite boutique KM33 which specializes in one of a kind design-y delights.

Sierra sunset at Cielomar rooftop.

From bed to spa in two steps!

When I couldn’t drink my Mezcal straight, the unflappable mixologists whipped up this amazing cocktail.

Walking on water again.

The mirror water views never get old. Especially at night.

Everything changes when the lights come on at dusk.

Rooftop, sunset, view and cocktails at Cielomar.

Highs & Lows

  • Art. I felt like I was staying in one of light artist James Turrell’s works come alive. Magical and one-off.

  • Relaxed. Despite Viceroy apparently being the second-most Instagrammed hotel in the world, it wasn’t over-run by people shoving you out of the way for the perfect selfie.

  • Food. The dining at Nido and Cielomar was some of the best I had in Los Cabos.

  • Alexa. I loved the chance to experiment with Alexa in my room. Especially in the balcony spa or bathtub when wanting a change of playlist!

  • All in-room water came from plastic water bottles yet most earth-aware travellers will have their own refillable bottles. The foyer or bar needs a self-serve re-fill zone, however “non luxury” that may appear.
