Sunset time from the terrace.

A view of my room’s door, as seen from the stairs.

They tried to use materials from Alentejo as much as possible when building the house. Here you can see cork, which is used throughout the house on furniture, doors and walls.

All of the carpets in the villa and in the rooms are made by Mizette Nielsen, a local carpet and woven fabric maker.

The marble bathroom, which is also an Alentejo local material. Aesop is a partner of the house.

Mid-50’s furniture is featured throughout the house. Here, a Pierre Paulin chair.

Breakfast on the terrace, served by the owners Jean Christophe and François themselves.

A daybed by Jean Prouvé with Hermès blanket.

The infinity pool overlooking the olive trees. Hard to see, but the pool is Klein blue.

A view of the house on the way back from the pool.

The interior patio made me feel like we were in a high-end modern riad.

You can buy Aesop products and local olive oil in the lobby. Note the incredible marble details and colors.

The lovers pic.

A view of the property.

Highs & Lows

  • Architecture and design - the furniture!

  • Peaceful vibes and a great library.

  • Jean François & Christophe’s hospitality, which makes you (really) feel at home.

  • If you don’t rent a car, remember this is the countryside - you can’t go very far from the house.

  • As this is more of a guesthouse, the restaurant can be a low if you’re looking to have lunch or dinner there everyday.
