NYC Florists Putnam & Putnam Open Their First Boutique at the Moxy Hotel

Bringing their celebrated designs to the flower district

Spring may not have sprung yet, but Michael and Darroch Putnam have still managed to brighten up New York in the way they know best. The duo is behind Putnam & Putnam, purveyors of some of the most unique and beautiful floral arrangements in the city—now available directly to customers for the first time at the duo’s first retail boutique. The store is a focal point of the new Moxy Chelsea—aptly set in New York’s flower district—where guests are greeted by the boutique upon entry. Even if you’re unfamiliar with the name, it’s likely you’ve encountered a Putnam & Putnam design at some point since their inception in 2014. Putnam & Putnam quickly made a name for itself by creating elegant floral designs for major clients: their floral archway surrounded the entrance at Bergdorf Goodman, a delicate rose arrangement was shot for Dior and they evoked an enchanted garden for Cartier, and they’ve designed lush sets for Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. They even did the arrangements at Gwyneth Paltrow’s wedding in the fall, just after releasing their first book ‘Flower Color Guide’ on Phaidon.  At the Moxy Hotel, not only is this the first time customers can buy flowers or unique pre-made arrangements (along with curated gift items selected by Michael and Darroch) directly from Putnam & Putnam, they can also experience their site-specific installations year-round in the hotel. The duo helped decorate the entryway and the vertical gardens in the Conservatory, in line with the floral theme that runs throughout the hotel (the soon-to-open rooftop lounge is titled the Fleur Room) and blends in with the neighborhood. Putnam & Putnam may have gained plenty of recognition for their client work over the last five years, but with the launch of their own customer-facing flower shop, the duo have finally come into full bloom.
