Highs + Lows

  • They leave a breakfast “bag” on a hook outside your door each morning. Yogurt, orange juice and granola have never been packaged so cutely.

  • I would hang out at the hotel even if I wasn’t staying there. The lobby is a work space, meeting area, bar and restaurant all in one. It feels like a members only club without any pretension.

  • Their attention to detail was on point, from carefully scavenged art in the elevators to vintage book collections in the rooms.

  • The avocado toast at Lotti’s. Yum.

  • The hotel’s architecture is pretty amazing, occupying five old canal houses. In the 17th century, the building was home to Amsterdam’s mayor and some of that history lingers.

  • The hotel just opened when we stayed there, so they were sorting out some kinks at the reception and the café.
