Entering room number 8 on the second floor of the Pumphouse with incredible views. Large windows make the rooms feel exposed but they are extremely private and sealed from the elements.

Me outside the Pumphouse. There are 12 rooms inside that sit 250m out over a lake. Access is by foot or golf buggy.

Waking up over a misty lake. The location is so incredible, you’re out over a 170 meter deep lake (the deepest in Australia). The temperature can get very cool in Tasmania but the rooms as completely sealed.

The bathrooms. As well as floor heating, the showers at the Pumphouse have full-length windows looking out over the lake.

Hot bread can be delivered to your room at any time. Just call.

The living room areas with honesty bar. Pour yourself a drink and take some time in the afternoon sun to sit with a book and take in the incredible location.

This is a remote location, so it’s a journey to get there (2 hours from any major city with an airport), but that is the beauty of it.
