Highs & Lows

  • The pool!!! It’s the most beautiful pool I've ever seen, and unlike other pools in Nosara, it’s not freezing. Think riad allure in the jungle. I heard the tiles are from India, imported to Costa Rica, and were custom cut to precision to make a pattern.

  • The decor throughout is very eclectic, i found myself taking photos of everything i wanted for my own house. The black and white cushions, the lampshades, the tiles in the bathroom. You feel like you’re in a design studio where every item is intentional and custom.

  • The location, away from the noise and crowds of Guiones, in more local and low key Pelada. Walking distance to the beach and across the street from the very best breakfast place in all of Nosara, Sunrise Coffee. The road is still unpaved and you can walk to sunset and back without hassle.

  • There’s no bar here. While the rooms have a fridge and everything you need to make your own food and drinks, when I go to a hotel I want to not think about that (also, motherhood).

  • The fridge in the room had no drinks :( there;s coconuts at the front desk and a communal fridge with beers and kombucha in the lobby, but nothing beats a cocktail or a nice glass of wine.

  • Speakers in the room or some well curated tunes for ambiance would have been nice.

Important Bits

  • Type

    Boutique Hotel

  • Vibe

If your hot North African husband is also a surfer (soulful and cinematic)

  • Location

On the main road in Playa Pelada, walking distance to the beach but far away from noise. Can’t beat it.

  • Rooms

    13

  • Pre-Arrival & Arrival Experience

The staff was in touch days before I arrived via whatsapp, making sure I could arrive early with my son and that everything would be ready for us when we got there. Fresh coconuts at the front desk were a huge plus when we arrived!! They also do an incredible job booking experiences, taxis, making reservations, and making sure you get an authentic experience and don’t waste time with logistics.

  • Future Forward

They’re mostly plastic free! There are cute paper bags for trash in all the bins, all the soaps and bath products are made locally. They also have two water treatment systems on site so all waste water is repurposed to water the lush garden. Helps to keep sewage out of the ocean and reduces water consumption.

  • Music

    Cariñito, Los Hijos del Sol

  • Year Opened

    January 2025

  • Designed By

ARC Interiors by Angela Dimoff, a local design studio founded by a New Yorker with Spanish/Lebanese roots. Angela’s work is rooted in heritage and intuition, using artisanal, handcrafted pieces to create spaces that feel authentic, grounding, and emotionally meaningful. The reason I wanted to take everything home.

  • Health & Wellness

They partner with BodhiTree for yoga and gym access, make sure you ask at the front desk.

  • Food

There's no food onsite, but many walkable options.

  • Bar, Events & Nightlife

Nosara has a little nightlife going but most people surf and are up at 5 am, so the energy there is very grounded and healthy. You’re more likely to go to Ecstatic Dance at Casa das Estrelas on Sunday morning than raving on Saturday night, though the raves do exist if you look hard enough. Sunset is an event in itself. I like to get a margarita to go at Il Ruco and head to Guiones main, or go to Olga’s happy hour and watch the hippies playing guitar.

  • Minibar & Retail

I think they’re still working on this!

  • Accessibility

The ground floor is accessible, but not the second.

  • Pet Friendly

    Yes!

  • Children

    Sure!

  • Price

    Just bougie enough...

Playa Pelada feels like the kind of place you almost weren’t supposed to find. It’s quiet, a little raw, not trying to impress you. It’s not polished but it’s the most beautiful beach, in my opinion. The rocks add a bit of drama and form perfect tide pools at low tide. There’s something slightly wild about it, plus it feels really good to be surrounded by locals.
