Why Brooklyn?
I moved to NYC in 2005 to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology, so it was really the cheap rent that initially brought me to Brooklyn, and I’ve been home ever since. Bushwick is absolutely thriving with life, culture, and an infinite amount of things to do. From street art to street food to the dive bars with absurd drag performances and the parks filled with families, it has endless variety and action.

Brooklyn sounds like… It’s a cacophony of music blending from pop to techno to reggaeton. It’s trash and flowers, tacos, and fancy wine. Gritty in a good way.

The best time of year to visit is… Autumn. Specifically, Halloween.

I recommend…
Maria Hernandez Park for workouts and people watching
Kala Yoga for yoga
Faro for fancy food
The Taco Trucks on Wyckoff Avenue for authentic Mexican food
House of Yes for the best shows and parties ever (of course)
Wyckoff Starr for the best coffee ever
Queen on Starr for the best Middle Eastern cuisine and drag brunch
