Why Brooklyn?
I’d been living in downtown NYC for years. I dreamed of having a house with a beautiful garden and a slightly less hectic pace, but that’s still super close to all the fun and electricity of the city.

What’s the best thing about Carroll Gardens?
Being near the East River, the Gowanus Canal, and Red Hook, there’s a wharf, seafaring, dock vibe that I like. I like to dream about tributaries and oceans and rivers and the way in which the world has always been connected.

My Brooklyn sounds like birds, construction, and garden parties; it smells like flowers and wet pavement; it tastes like cappuccinos and croissants.

Here are my favorite spots in the neighborhood:
Pioneer Works in Red Hook is a great experimental art space
Public Records bar and cafe in Gowanus
Shen Beauty for specialty Beauty products
Frankie’s Spuntino, a favorite restaurant
Runner & Stone for the best coffee and croissants
Local Roots Market & Cafe for innovative Chinese prepared foods and treats
Renting a Citibike and pedaling along the East River and into Red Hook
