Exceptional African Design Comes to London
Merchants on Long pops up in London’s Burlington Arcade
By AHL Team on 11.04.22
Africa’s first concept store, Cape Town-based Merchants on Long, brings exceptional African design to the British capital in a new pop-up at the iconic Burlington Arcade. Founded by Hanneli Rupert in 2010, Merchants on Long has become a reference point for discovering the continent’s rising fashion designers, such as Rich Minis, Lukhanyo Mdingi, Thebe Magugu, and many more.
Apart from fashion, the store also stocks accessories and design objects. All products are made in Africa, focusing on brands vetted for their strong sustainable and ethical commitments. Accompanying the pop-up, Merchants have launched their online store, where you can shop quirky beaded combs by Not Just A Comb, invest in OKAPI handcrafted bags and accessories, or be seduced by Côté Bougie’s terracotta vesseled candles.
Situated in the Burlington Arcade between Piccadilly and Old Bond Street, Merchants on Long’s two-story pop-up store will be open until January 2023.
