COMO Shambhala Estate

After a drive through rice patties and a small village you get to this humble facade of 23 acre estate of Como Shambhala.

Our room was practically suspended over the jungle. How divine?

The bedroom of our residence was scenically a glass cube levitating in the tree tops. I saw a lot of monkeys doing their monkey business from here!

In the morning, opening all floor to ceiling windows and submerging ourselves in the intense sound of the jungle is real therapy.

Outside bathtub and shower in the garden of our residence. The very very relaxing gazebo was the best nap spot.

Another good nap spot on the retreats premises was this giant gorgeous sofa overlooking the jungle.

The residences are designed in a style of compounds. In ours, there were four suites with a common lounge area and infinity pool. These stunning stone stairs were our entrance.

The beautiful restaurant serving delicious healthy food. You can arrange to eat anywhere on the property.

The best gluten free bread I’ve ever had with fresh salads and juice. We also had a raw cheesecake. It got devoured before I I managed to take a picture.

Every room gets an assistant. Find a phone and have your assistant pick you up and drive you in a buggy (it’s a giant estate), plan your day or remind you of your yoga class. Leave thinking at home.

Waiting for breakfast in this stunning Javanese joglo. It is 150 years old and has been assembled after a knock down and brought from Java. I couldn’t stop touching those wood carvings.

The humble pool in our residence. I’m diving into abyss giddiness and jungle sounds.

Every corner of the property is manicured. There are 300 staff and they sure are working hard on that lawn. You can also see the 25m lap pool.

The spa area is so tranquil and SciFi like, no?

Awesome bit about the resort is the estate walk. It takes about an hour to walk through and it’s proper mowgli stuff. You spot monkeys, gorgeous birds, snakes and wildly coloured butterflies and bugs. I’m in love!
