"Wes Anderson film meets Alpine heritage hospitality with historic and cinematic scale."
A softer side of St. Moritz. Historic alpine grandeur balanced with warmth, family-friendly hospitality, and thoughtful luxury. Set beside the Signalbahn lift in the quieter St. Moritz Bad district, the property pairs cinematic scale with intimate service, expansive wellness traditions, excellent dining, and effortless access to the Engadin valley’s winter playground.
Highs & Lows

The staff was incredible. Everyone went above and beyond during the entirety of our stay. Traveling with a small child isn’t always seamless and this experience felt so perfect because of the staff from housekeeping to dining to reception. The best hotel team I have ever encountered!
-
The kids club was so thoughtful! A two story playroom with crafts, activities, snacks and the warmest atmosphere.
-
The location! Truly no bad angles. Every window was well positioned to show a glimpse of nature, a mountain or another beautiful blue shuddered structure within the expansive property.

Future Forward
Wooden keycards are produced by the Forest Stewardship Council, no single use plastics, glass water bottles and refillable liquid toiletries in the bathrooms, sustainable dental kits and fabric laundry bags. Hotel room bedding is replaced every other day and the property has received an EarthCheck Silver certification. Impressive efforts to reduce consumption and increase upcycling: repurposing soap, food and furniture for staffing as well as charitable partners.

Music
The music was soft and relaxing. There was live piano playing every morning during the complimentary breakfast which was one of the highlights of the stay.

Designed By
Originally opened in 1864 as a spa retreat built around the Mauritius spring, the Grand Hotel des Bains still carries the serene atmosphere of St. Moritz’s early wellness culture. Today, thoughtful renovations blend contemporary alpine warmth with the building’s historic shell, marrying warm wooden tones, soft textures, and understated furnishings that allow the surrounding mountains to remain the real spectacle.

Health & Wellness
The spa is a beautiful homage to the mineral rich Mauritius Spring it's situated on. The Spring was discovered 3,000 years ago and helped establish St. Moritz as a healing destination. I only drank water from the tap and it was the best I've ever tasted. So clean and pure. There is a Ski Service located on site which offers everything from all the bells and whistles for skiing or snowboarding to complimentary wooden sleighs for small children.

Food
Fresh and superb. The complimentary breakfast was sprawling with pastries, organic fruit, an omelet bar that had the best omelets I have ever had in a hotel, parfait assortments, cheese, honeycomb, fresh juices and everything you can dream of. We used the in room dining on a few occasions to feed ourselves in a pinch and it was fresh and delicious each time. In addition the property is home to four restaurants, Les Saisons (Swiss inspired cuisine), Neora (the first modern Greek restaurant in St. Moritz), Crazy Pizza (no fuss, very yummy pizza which we loved and enjoyed twice!), and Billionaire (a Dinner Show & Experience offering an Italian Asian fusion menu and Cirque de Soleil like stage performance.)
-
Bar, Events & Nightlife
In addition to the restaurants there is the now iconic Beluga Igloo Bar situated outside of the property. With fun music playing and no shortage of guests enjoying the cocktails and seating, this location is as much a bar as it is a content moment drawing people from all over for a fun photo and a little relaxation. It’s a very unique and tastefully executed partnership between Beluga and Kempinski.
-
Minibar & Retail
Little bar of Swiss chocolate that was heavenly and we used the extra fridge space for our daughter’s yogurts and snacks.
-
Accessibility
All of the property’s public spaces are wheelchair accessible with the exception of the spa which offers limited accessibility.
-
Pet Friendly
Very! We saw several dogs throughout our stay in the lobby and elsewhere on site.
-
Children
This is my trip highlight! The staff welcomed our tired 15-month-old like she was their own. Our hotel driver collapsed her stroller at the train station before storing it quickly for our transport. At check in the reception handed her a plushy ram stuffed toy with a big smile as soon as we walked in. There was a little robe and slipper set just for her, and a toddler bath tub. The main event is an on-site two story kids club. We visited every day, so well designed and fun. The property embraces families in a very unique, impressive way.

Price
Expensive, but in my opinion the experience justifies the price.

Hotel Location
The hotel is situated in St. Moritz Bad, the resort’s quieter spa district, the Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski sits at the foot of the Signalbahn lift, where mornings begin with skiers ascending toward Corviglia and evenings drift back toward the glow of the village just up the hill. The iconic lake is a short walk which we did daily with a stroller and it was perfect.
