Highs & Lows

  • Beds & Linens – the huge, four-poster beds are built into natural wood alcoves, shrouded in muslin, and kitted out with wonderful Coco-Mat linens and mattresses. Perfect for a long night’s sleep and breakfast in bed.

  • Staff & Service – the staff are friendly and helpful. Where did they find these people in Paris? Happy to recommend local bars, serve a late glass of wine, and help with logistics.

  • Peace & Quiet – not something you expect in the 17th, but Hidden pulls it off with remarkable aplomb. A relaxed and personal space without hotel stuffiness or tourist bustle.

  • One minimalist step too far – the eco-minimal design is lovely and laudable, but the rooms could do with a little more fleshing out. Not necessarily to the scale of Beyonce’s tour rider, but a minibar would be nice.

    Low-key and discrete.

  • Year Opened

The hotel was built in 2009 and underwent a renovation in 2012.

  • Health & Wellness

Neither...but then again, this is central Paris.

  • Restaurant

Organic breakfast and decadent late-night snacks (freshly baked madeleines and canapés) are served on rough wooden boards and soft linens in the intimate, design-forward lounge.

  • Bar

Organic wines and cocktails by night give way to fresh juices and café au lait in the morning at Hidden’s purpose-built bar in the lobby: an intimate space filled with soft light, leather sofas, roughly hewn wood and the day’s papers.

  • Minibar

No…99 luxuries, but a fridge ain’t one. Wine and nibbles are available to take up from the bar and water is provided in chic bottles.

  • Children

Probably best left at home…unless she’s named Blue Ivy.

  • Price

High-end minimalism—expensive, but expected rates for a central Paris boutique.
