Silvereye restaurant, where a simple breakfast is served.

Bathtub with a bedroom view.

The bedroom.

A double basin (always better) with Triumph & Disaster soap and moisturizer.

A bag for random crap – The Old Clare’s odds and ends.

The downstairs living area of my two-story room with sofa, desk and lamps, including vintage motorcycle covers turned into desk lamps by British designer Paul Firbank (not pictured).

Colourful cushions – nice touches.

Rooftop lounges near bar and lap pool. High-rise neighbouring buildings.

Sunny heated rooftop lap pool.

The Clare Bar on the ground floor. A great spot for a refreshing local ale.

The lobby fit with vintage pieces and a photo booth.

Highs & Lows

  • Great location and striking fit out.

  • Maizon Balzac perfume penetrating the air conditioner for a tailored hotel scent.

  • I’m a sucker for a hotel with a lap pool.

  • Automata is not open for lunch!

  • Not enough stealable stuff – no toothpaste.
