It warms our hearts to see hospitality brands innovating and leading by example, especially after a few years of rising earth temperatures, unpredictable weather, and natural phenomena linked to global warming. The Vera joins select sustainable and future-forward hotels worldwide, proving that a ban on single-use plastics is viable and necessary, paving the way for legislation like the one announced earlier this year in California.

Having first opened in 2018, The Vera, a 39-key boutique hotel located on Lilienblum Street in the heart of Tel Aviv’s cultural core, has become the city’s first to ban single-use plastic with a new series of future-forward initiatives to eliminate wasteful plastics throughout the property, among other measures such as a comprehensive recycling program, water-filters in each room to avoid plastic bottles, state of the art energy efficiency and eco-insulation, and an ethos of sourcing locally, which supports the local economy and reduces carbon emissions.

“The elimination of single-use plastics is an obvious decision and a forward step for the hotel industry,” says Danny Tamari, CEO and Founder of The Vera. “We continually strive to build an environmentally-conscious society, and The Vera’s action reflects our vision of what a modern hospitality experience should be.
