"A (Cozy) Homage to Mid-Century Design"

Melinda and me at Kanalhuset, which opened in 2021 in a building from 1754, and feels like a cozy country estate

The entire hotel is decked out in vintage midcentury Scandinavian furniture and textiles

The hotel has 12 rooms and 14 larger apartments; we couldn't believe how big our apartment was (800 square feet!)

Each apartment has a full designer kitchen (each in a totally different color scheme)

There's also a desk for all your WFH needs

The amazing vintage art in the space made it feel extra homey, which really helps for longer stays

The designers at EEN Kobenhavn scoured auctions, flea markets, and private collections to furnish the hotel

The hotel has quite a few meeting rooms and sitting rooms for guests

The perfect cozy spot to have breakfast in before biking around Copenhagen

Highs & Lows

The vintage Scandinavian furniture and art that fills the hotel is a true dream.
For longer stays, the property offers massive apartments with full kitchens and washing machines that are much nicer than an Airbnb.
The restaurant was full every day we were there — that's how good it is.
Yoga classes, knitting classes, and a weekly running club let you connect with fellow guests.

There's no dedicated reception staff, just the folks working at the bar/restaurant, so if you're a guest that needs something, it's not always easy to get someone's attention.

Kanalhuset is located, as its name suggests, directly on the charming Wilders canal in Copenhagen, at the edge of the Christiania neighborhood, so it's both incredibly picturesque and incredibly central. The Christianshavn metro station hub is a five-minute walk away, or do like the locals do and hop on a city bike — you're only a 5-15 minute cycle away from all of the city's best museums.
