From the Orient to Paris...the pages of Monte Cristo come to life in the dets.

A little pattern never hurt nobody.

If my initials were CM I may have been tempted to take these ceramic cups home with me...

A true golden hour.

The designers sourced hundreds of antiques for the hotel. I have to assume these are a few of those finds.

Entry details. No missed moments for this beautiful monogram.

Swim off the croissants. Unfortunately I just kept on indulging. Maybe next time.

A beautiful mural in the lobby.

Charming.

An expertly currated lobby. Fun fact...artist Christo Debusschere painted all of these portraits for Monte Cristo, which hang throughout.

Loves a fringe detail.

Good bye Paris, I love you.

Details, details, details.

Highs & Lows

  • The hotel pays homage to the literary great Alexandre Dumas (hence the name, Hotel Monte Cristo). This motif has been expertly interwoven throughout the hotel without feeling overly themey or cheesy.

  • Indoor pool?! Enough said.

  • The design is a clever mix of pattern, color, old & new. Apparently the designers sourced hundreds of antiques to fill the hotel.

  • As someone in design, I couldn't get enough of the branding. Every little thing, from the soap dish to the carpets in the hallways, was emblazoned with the Monte Cristo monogram.

  • All good things must come to an end. But I can't blame Monte Cristo for my departure from Paris. Although it was a real low point of the trip.

If you're lucky enough to be there on the first Friday of the month (which I was) the museum stays open late with live music. I happened to catch some jazz.

Unassuming from the outside, this is the Parisian cafe to end all Parisian cafes.
