"A Finger Lakes love story"
A hidden gem in New York’s Finger Lakes, Inn at Taughannock Falls is a 26-room boutique hotel that sits on 12 acres above Cayuga Lake with one of the Northeast’s largest outdoor wedding and events spaces. My fiancée and I are tying the knot here and checked in to the new Inn Spire suite the weekend of our tasting. With the kind of amenities you’d find in a luxury hotel in London or Los Angeles, it makes a strong case for being the finest place to sleep in the Finger Lakes.
Highs & Lows
-
The Inn Spire suite is an architectural feat, climbing three levels of the Victorian Inn through opened gables and up into the historic cupola, with French doors and a center balcony overlooking Cayuga Lake. Custom-controlled intelligent lighting, automated shades, and a Bluetooth sound system woven throughout offer a modern touch.
-
The suite amenities punch above their weight: a fireplace flanked by his-and-hers bookcases of personal mementos, a Hollywood-style dressing room with full vanity and makeup chair, and a bathroom that has it all — chandelier, freestanding tub, double vanity, double shower with four showerheads, and a Neorest Toto toilet.
-
Whether you're here for a wedding or a quiet weekend, the property is inviting at every turn, from the charming bar and restaurant overlooking the water to the Enchantment event garden with its sweeping sailcloth tent, 42-foot alabaster bar, dry-stack stone fireplace, and cantilevered fire pit.
-
Taughannock Falls State Park is essentially the Inn's backyard, with hiking trails to a 215-foot waterfall — the tallest drop east of the Rockies — steps from the property.
-
The Inn is a 15-minute drive from Ithaca, so there's no walkable nightlife beyond the property itself. That said, the tradeoff is being surrounded on all four sides by Taughannock Falls State Park, with the 215-foot falls, small falls, lakefront, pavilions, kayak rentals, fishing, and public swimming all walkable from the front door.

Rooms
There are 26 rooms spread across four buildings. The Victorian Inn is the heart of the estate — antique-filled, full of personality, and home to the newly debuted Inn Spire suite, a private salon for event use, and, starting in May, a smaller twin version of the Inn Spire suite called Inn Scape. The Lakeview Building offers recently renovated rooms with marble showers and lake-facing balconies on every floor. Parkview House is the most secluded of the four — tucked into the woods at the edge of Taughannock Falls State Park, for those who want to wake up to nothing but trees. And then there's the Hillside Residence, a six-bedroom private retreat that sleeps 12 and comes with a pool table — ideal for a group takeover
-
Pre-Arrival & Arrival Experience
Easy, warm, and welcoming — the team makes you feel at home the moment you step foot inside
-
Future Forward
The current owners have invested steadily in restoring and modernizing the 1873 property while keeping its historic bones intact. Original family furnishings, Tiffany chandeliers, and Eastlake mirrors are still in place throughout. Sitting at the gateway to the Cayuga Wine Trail and minutes from Ithaca, the inn feels rooted in the local community.
-

-
Food
The glass-enclosed restaurant serves a taste of the Finger Lakes, with dinner Thursday through Monday and a complimentary continental breakfast for overnight guests each morning. The Jones Room — an intimate, portrait-hung space with its own fireplace — hosts rehearsal dinners, showers, and special occasions, with the chef building custom menus to match. Wedding and event catering extends to the Enchantment deck and garden, all handled in-house
-
Bar, Events & Nightlife
The Inn's bar is richly atmospheric — think crimson walls, dark wood, and leather stools. Cocktails and a well-curated Finger Lakes wine list can be taken outside to the terrace, where firepits face Cayuga Lake. The Inn also runs a recurring summer event, where guests can enjoy burgers, drinks, and live music in the Enchantment Garden every Tuesday
-
Minibar & Retail
The dressing room in the Inn Spire suite has a spacious coffee station, pull-out mini fridge, sink, ice maker, and plenty of counter space for food and bottles of champagne if the occasion calls for it
-
Accessibility
The Inn's historic bones mean accessibility isn't uniform across all spaces, but there are ADA accessible rooms in the Lakeview building as well as golf carts and ramps for accessing the outdoor event spaces
