Nice touches in the mezzanine include details such a designer lighting and a colourful parrot armchair.

Awesome Lekker bikes, available free of charge for all guests to cruise around Perth.

A welcome message chalked up on the entrance. Speaks for the relaxed mode of this casually chic hotel.

Lovely reception staff from above.

The “Small Room” and most basic at The Alex, but all you need! They also have larger rooms, bunk rooms and family options. Rooms are simply dressed with minimal, designer details – from the bed throw to the coat hooks and the free filtered water, bottled in-house.

My favourite Australian beauty products from Sodashi in the bathroom. Made locally in Perth.

The rooftop with expansive views of the city, all the way out to the sea. Head up at dusk and take a drink from the bar downstairs.

Delicious breakfast spread (included in room rate), with locally baked bread and muffins.

Me sipping filter coffee in the breakfast mezzanine. Nice rugs!

Ground floor lobby area with communal table for guests and locals to mingle over coffee by local Perth roaster Mano a Mano.

A record player in the lounge area to listen to good tunes like John Coltrane’s Love Supreme on vinyl. Tick tick.

Lovely green façade and the hotel’s slightly discreet entrance.
