Highs & Lows

  • While exploring alone, a staff member asked if I wanted to “meet Billy.” Billy, the manager’s perfect golden retriever, was hanging out quietly in another room. 5 minutes with Billy set a high bar for the rest of the stay.

  • I loved the bathroom. The dark, glossy tiles were gorgeous, and every shelf, towel rack, and nook was exactly where you’d want it. A rare thing in a hotel, and this one nailed it.

  • The palazzo! They really struck the right balance between Renaissance grandeur and modern comfort. Endless spaces to wander, inside and out. There’s always someone to guide you back on track if you lose your way.

  • Especially in June, the outdoor gardens and courtyards were such a gift—lively, or peaceful depending.

  • So many food and menu options---from cocktails and dinner and bites, to late night wine, to cafe coffee and pastry in the AM.

  • The “breakfast in a bag” add-on for 5 euros is "a sweet treat, OJ, and a banana." The juice and fruit were perfect for Sloane’s breakfast on the run, but the “sweet treat” turned out to be a packaged cookie. I can’t really consider the Italian equivalent of Chips Ahoy a breakfast option, especially in a city with some of the best pastry and a cafe downstairs.

Important Bits

  • Type

    Future Forward Luxury Hotel

  • Vibe

Nails the modern-chic hotel vibe in the heart of Renaissance Florence

  • Location

Just off the historic center of Florence, near Piazza della Libertà---but removed. Not touristy!

  • Rooms

158 rooms and one three-bedroom rental House

  • Pre-Arrival & Arrival Experience

The Hoxton is a well-oiled machine but email confirmations for rooms/restaurant reservations still feel personal. Using the brand’s Flexy Time initiative, you can choose your check-in/out time up to 72 hours in advance. All the front desk people are so friendly.

  • Future Forward

Hoxton tracks eco efforts on their Good Stuff/Good Actions page; Florence is Green Key certified by the GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council). They monitor carbon emissions, track and reduce food waste with Klimato scales, no single-use plastics. Save €20 off when taking the train between Hoxton city locations.

  • Music

Chill, vibey playlists of the Santi & Tuğçe, Islandman, Cigarettes After Sex ilk. I Shazaamed more than a couple times.

  • Year Opened

Fresh! March 2025. It was open for about 3 months when we arrived.

  • Designed By

As with all the locations I’ve seen, luxurious but with stylishly relaxed, contemporary charm. AIME Studios reimagined the hotel, a 16th-century residence built for the Ricasolis (wine barons since 1141), later a monastery. Preserved lime-washed walls, an elegant outdoor arcade, vaulted ceilings, frescoes dating to 1611, with mildly zany, 1980s postmodernism.

  • Health & Wellness

No onsite gym, but partnerships with Anytime Fitness, Yoga Garage, and Runners of Florence, Sergio Bianchi bikes

  • Food

Alassio served fresh pasta and seafood in a gorgeous garden or the airy indoor space. Sloane loved her red-sauce spaghetti and fritto misto. My silver platter of 4 simple langoustines was one of the most refreshing dishes of the trip. Order the highball with strawberry liqueur and tomato & bread (!) cordial. Don't miss the coffee bar/cafe.

  • Bar, Events & Nightlife

The bar in the restaurant is a cozy spot at night, plus Enoteca Violetta, the wine bar is a club-roomy, plushy spot to lounge. La Riserva, the underground wine cellar, makes a great setting for gatherings (there were several wedding events while we were there.)

  • Minibar & Retail

Behind the front desk is a selection of drinks and snacks (guaranteed at street prices, not hotel mark ups)

  • Accessibility

The entrance, elevator, lobby and guest bathrooms, front desk and restaurants are all ADA accessible (pretty much the whole hotel). There are visual and audible alarms, and phone lights and rooms for hearing impaired guests, plus the staff is trained in guest support.

  • Pet Friendly

    Yes!

  • Children

Definitely! Call or email to request a kid cot or baby crib. The "House" rental is a great option for families or groups. Everyone was charming to Sloane, she was gifted a mini wood Pinocchio (Florence!). LOVED the complimentary Dadaumpa baby care kit in a little cardboard house with organic products.

  • Price

Upper mid to medium-range premium rooms. Hoxton is constantly posting book-direct deals, specials, and loyalty pricing on their site and in email blasts.

The Hoxton Florence sits near the major city hub of Piazza della Libertà, at the northern edge of the historic center just beyond the old city walls. It’s about a 15-minute walk to the Duomo and roughly 20 minutes to the Ponte Vecchio. The neighborhood is lively and local—cafés, small boutiques, and the occasional market spilling into the streets give a real sense of everyday Florentine life.
