Austin Proper Hotel Lux linens, super comfy mattress. No complaints bed-wise, aside from the fact that I would have liked to spend more time in it.

Highs & Lows

  • Very kid friendly. Staff incredibly welcoming and helpful, there were no eye-rolls here.

  • Aesop products in big bottles - yummy products and less plastic waste, hooray! (though nothing to take home with ya, if that's your thing).

  • Lush, waffled bathrobes from Parachute.

  • Fab design by Kelly Wearstler throughout. No detail neglected.

  • There were only two coffee capsules for the in-room coffee machine: could be a bit more generous.

  • Room service menu a bit on the lighter side in terms of variety.

Important Bits

  • Type

    Luxury

  • Vibe

Urban cool, a bit of a techy crowd (Google and Apple have offices nearby) with a laid-back country western twist.

  • Location

Dowtown Austin, with plenty of restaurants and bars nearby.

  • Rooms

    244

  • Purposeful Practices

Yoga and other good bits, are offered at the gym, which also feature Reformer Pilates machines. Well-equipped, for sure. There's also a spa.

  • Music

In the lobby yes, and it's vibey but not in your face.

  • Year Opened

Soft launched in 2019, but really up and running now in 2020.

  • Designed By

    Kelly Wearstler.

  • Health & Wellness

    Yes & Yes.

  • Restaurant

The Peacock is the main spot, serving Eastern Mediterranean fare throughout the day, with a killer wine list. There's a bakery / cafe called The Mockingbird which is perfect for a morning coffee and croissant.

  • Bar

There's the main bar in the lobby, which is very buzzy come cocktail hour. And Goldie's - a guest's only / reservation required sunken bar at the back of the hotel which is definitely worth a visit.

  • Minibar

Nothing fancy, but did the trick.

  • Pet Friendly

Very. Always dogs hanging in the lobby.

  • Children

Definitely. Ours had the run of the place and the staff were super friendly and engaging.

  • Price

Not inexpensive, but they run regular offers.
