The Story Hotel The furniture is a mix of contemporary and vintage pieces. Everyone seems to be loving the old and new vibe at the mo and Story Hotel is very much making the most of this ongoing trend.

The Story Hotel Story Hotel magazine was a nice touch too. The hotel’s branding in general is pretty kooky. I liked it.

Highs & Lows

  • Staff were super friendly and helpful. They called me by name each day and seemed to know the name of every guest staying.

  • Breakfast is included and runs from 6:30am until 10:30am, which gave Danny time to eat before his early 7am start and me a huge lie in before I had to worry about everything running out.

  • The location of this hotel is great. So many cool restaurants, bars, shops and transport links nearby but it doesn’t feel like you’re in a soulless city center.

  • We used our £15 (150 SEK) token for room service on the last day before the rush to the airport. It was delicious and the guy from reception brought it up himself. We felt very looked after.

  • Hated the carpets in the corridors. I do seem to always hate hotel carpets though, so maybe this is just something I need to come to terms with.

  • The design in general could be just a notch higher. It’s almost there, but could be a little more coherent. A few more finishing touches would make a big difference - but now I’m being a perfectionist.

  • Health & Wellness

Nope - but didn’t miss them. If you’re a fitness freak, choose the attic apartment which includes its own workout area.

  • Restaurant

Yes. The ever-changing menu is the main attraction. I loved the salt-baked beetroot. Wasn’t so sure about the purple velvet banquets!

  • Bar

Yep. Serves its own menu of snacks and sandwiches by day and every cocktail under the sun by night. The trendy locals come in swarms.

  • Minibar

The mini bar includes free water and Pepsi and you’re encouraged to fill the bar with your own drinks and treats. Cute idea.

  • Children

Didn’t see any while I was there so maybe leave them at home.

  • Price

Ranges from pretty cheap to luxury depending on whether you go for the super squeeze room with bunk beds or the spacious attic apartment with a huge bathroom, workout space and amazing views of Stockholm.
