Important Bits

  • Type

    Luxury Hotel

  • Vibe

A social meeting point for locals and tourists. They have managed to create a spot with a vibe that attracts everyone with their partnership with the music Conservatorium. With live music events and a great lounge, it is definitely a spot to enjoy more than just the room

  • Location

Centrally located near the canals, shops and museums

  • Rooms

    129

  • Pre-Arrival & Arrival Experience

I was impressed as soon as I walked in. I had heard about this property, it being a favorite amongst friends. It wasn't until I arrived, I realized why it was their favorite. Anyone who loves music, art, history and design can understand the why once stepping inside

  • Future Forward

I spoke with the GM and they are constantly looking at ways to be more sustainable. They already have a thermal energy storage system in place. They do a great job in integrating cultural programs, even offering a scholarship to young musicians to the Conservatorium in Amsterdam

  • Music

Definitely music! They have a piano in the lounge and there are live performances with singers and bands

  • Year Opened

    2011

  • Designed By

    Piero Lissoni

  • Health & Wellness

They have a beautiful spa area, good size lap pool and a gym that even I wanted to workout in. I especially enjoyed their yoga studio

  • Food

    Restaurant and lounge

  • Bar, Events & Nightlife

Unfortunately, the main restaurant was under renovation when we stayed, but took afternoon drinks and played backgammon in the lobby lounge

  • Minibar & Retail

Great minibar with a beautiful design. They did a fantastic job curating the shops within the hotel, I walked out with heavier luggage than when I arrived

  • Accessibility

Very accessible, although a few rooms have 2 floors with stairs only

  • Pet Friendly

    Yes

  • Children

    Yes

  • Price

    Reassuringly expensive

The Conservatorium is located within walking distant from all the museums, the famous canals, shopping district, where the cool crowd hangs and to many different restaurants. If it's not close enough to walk to, then it's easy to hop on a bike and blend in with the locals. Just mind the traffic and that you are in the bike lanes ;)
