Highs & Lows
-
Views, views, views and wine, wine, wine for days
-
The staff was excellent, so accommodating and welcoming. The wine studio staff were also stellar- knowledgeable without being intimidating (which can happen at wine tastings..).
-
If you can’t snag a reservation at La Petite Colombe, HIGHLY recommend Protégé. It was easily our favorite meal of the trip!
-
The hotel’s partnership with South African gallery Everard Read includes a sculpture garden for monumental works scattered among herbs and vegetables which are featured on the restaurant’s menus.
-
For non-wine drinkers and beer fans, their restaurant next door, Tuk Tuk Microbrewery, has a partnership with the award-winning Cape Brewing Company and serves bespoke local brews made in-house
-
Be warned, nightlife is pretty much non-existent, its a ghost town after dinner.

Le Quartier Francais building is a heritage site, so there was no “designer” per se – although there is plenty of the owner’s private art collection throughout.
-
Health & Wellness
The dreamiest pool surrounded by French style gardens and quirky cute baboon art sculptures. Gym as well with the basics- although have to be honest didn’t step foot in it once.
-
Restaurant
OH is there a restaurant! Chef Scot Kirton leads the critically acclaimed Le Petite Colombe as well as its more casual but equally as stunning little sister, Protégé which aims to provide young talented chefs the opportunity to hone their skills. Stephen Raff who leads the kitchen at Protégé and his team stole the show- absolutely mind-blowing chefs tasting menu. Highly, highly recommend.
-
Bar
Yes- full bar at said restaurant but do yourself a favor and take advantage of the complimentary wine tasting offered to all guests at The Wine Studio at Mullineux & Leeu located in their vineyard.
-
Minibar
Love a good ~free~ minibar selection! One of the perks of staying at a wine estate is guess what's included complimentary in the mini bar? A bottle of red and a bottle of white- yes please thank you! Artisanal biscuits, candy and cookies are also included.
-
Children
Ehh leave them behind. With focus on food and wine don’t think it's their scene.
-
Price
Moderately priced for boutique luxury and well worth it.
