Highs & Lows

  • The staff at the Menorca Experimental. A mix of French and Menorcan they are all charming, helpful, down to earth with excellent hair.

  • The feeling of relief as your reach the end of a dusty road and first see this whitewashed 19th century farmhouse. A feeling that just gets better and better the further you penetrate.

  • The food and cocktail combo. So fresh and delicious!

  • The sunset. It's like they organized it.

  • It's not their fault but there is no beach nearby. They couldn’t organize that.

Important Bits

  • Type

    Rural Retreat by the sea

  • Vibe

A beautifully reimagined farmhouse which is an oasis of cool in an arid landscape

  • Location

    A 25-minute drive from Menorca’s Mahon airport

  • Rooms

43 rooms and 9 private villas

  • Pre-Arrival & Arrival Experience

    Flawless. Seamless. Stylish.

  • Future Forward

Their organic vegetable garden is slap bang in the middle of the property, stocking the kitchen pantry and crucially providing garnishes for the cocktails

  • Music

The Experimental group started out in cocktail bars so they know a thing or two about putting together a playlist

  • Year Opened

    2019

  • Designed By

    Dorothee Meilichzon

  • Health & Wellness

A beautiful pool long enough for laps, or simply for lounging besides. The spa was developed in partnership with legendary French tailor-made skin treatment brand, Biologique Recherche

  • Food

Super fresh, super delicious unpretentious Mediterranean cuisine made entirely from locally sourced produce. The menu is divided into fish, meat, and veggies with delicious tapas-style starters “para picar”. They happily made adjustments and new additions for the vegan and gluten-free-ers

  • Bar, Events & Nightlife

As to be expected the cocktails are off-the-scale incredible. I heavily recommend the 'Flamingo'. The bar is part of the terrace restaurant, where stylish-looking folks happily sip cocktails alongside people still in their beach attire or small children crawling under their table

  • Minibar & Retail

There is a very carefully curated hotel shop with cool beach throws and other very tasteful and not inexpensive items. Beware

  • Accessibility

All common areas at the Menorca Experimental are wheelchair accessible, including select guest rooms

  • Pet Friendly

Fluffy friends of the non-human form are not allowed

  • Children

Very much so, the grounds offer plenty of opportunities to explore and play

  • Price

It’s not cheap but also not outrageous, definitely priced right for such a special place
