Parker Palm Springs
- Where:
- Why:Culture touring
- When:November 2025
- Who:Me and a group of fellow art and design enthusiasts
"Maximalist, indulgent desert refuge "
Maximalist design playground where vintage Palm Springs kitsch meets seclusion and luxury. Complete with croquet lawns, bocce and lemon groves, world class dining and desert mountain views for miles, this is a California fever dream.
Highs & Lows
-
Design, design, design. They let Jonathan Adler's imagination run wild and it really shows, down to every last guest room, common area, takeaway, and tea spoon
-
The combo of guest rooms in the main hotel plus private villas means there's something for every level of luxe, but the Gene Autry rental house is really next level. Use if for your next-level soiree and host a glam house party in total privacy. The balance of total discreet seclusion honed by decades of LA's highest profile names making this their retreat, with a sultry, sexy nightlife really hits it
-
The rotation of high-end house cars like Lambos and Porsches for service as the guest shuttle is a deft touch. My pick up from the airport in a Porsche Taycan Turbo GT was top notch
-
Small and large hospitality graces everywhere. Turn down service and a warm cookie-bailey’s shot nightcap was a necessary evil
-
Artist and illustrator Luke Edward Hall does all the printed materials like the guest books, even all the little animated graphics on their site
-
Triple A+++ all the way. No downers to speak of. (Unless you ask nicely, this is Palm Springs;)

Pre-Arrival & Arrival Experience
The wow-factor starts at the entrance into the glamourous lobby. Front desk couldn't be nicer, with attendants stationed to help find your bearings (it took me a full day). **Wink wink...keep an eye out for the VIP key at check-in for a welcome treat at Mini Bar
-
Future Forward
Glass bottles only, water conservation at pools, gardens and landscaping, electric vehicle charging stations, herb and vegetable gardens onsite
-
Music
Yacht rock, glam grunge, soul classics, groovy funk..all take a spin on the playlist. Outdoors, the sound of birds and the wind in the trees
-
Year Opened
Originally in 1959, the first CA Holiday Inn. Then a superstar magnet as Gene Autry's hotel, and finally The Parker since 2004
-
Designed By
Dazzlingly, by Jonathan Adler, who continues to make updates and improvements. Not a single witty, provocative detail is missed, large or small
-
Health & Wellness
The opulent and cheeky Palm Springs Yacht Club (PSYC) is home to do the spa, indoor pool, and gym. Multiple luscious pools. The outside tennis court is home to Wyn Tennis Academy (introduce yourself to Padel, the Euro sensation)
-
Food
All A++++ : Mister Parker's: clubby, lounge supper club. Counter Reformation: spicy, moody wine speakeasy with a former confessional in the back for private convos. Norma's: outdoor, decadent Cali-fresh cuisine. Find Lemonade Stand hidden somewhere among the tree lined paths, or book Mrs Parker's for a special occasion (private candlelit dining by the Gene Autry pool)
-
Bar, Events & Nightlife
All the above are hot spots for guests and locals, or just cozy up to the roaring fire pit in the lobby lounge/bohemian den.

13 acres of lush grounds and freestanding villas, with a main hotel building make the Parker an oasis in the desert. Minutes from the action downtown, this is a peaceful (if you want it) and lively (if you're looking), utterly secluded spot with amazing nightlife options. Still a discreet escape for Hollywood's A+ list since the days of Crosby and Sinatra.
