Opened in 2012, Rooms Hotel Kazbegi brought back to a new exciting life an old Soviet building formerly used as a ski resort by the Russian militaries.

All common areas are backed by floor-to-ceiling windows facing the Caucasus Mountains in all their glory.

The trip – fittingly called "Magic Mountain Weekend" – was part of Design Hotels annual gathering. The program included lots of fun and wellness treats, like this Ayurvedic breakfast led by Jasmine Hemsley.

All-around magical being Miriam Adler led us on a meditative hike up the spectacular Mount Kazbek.

Visiting the Gergeti Trinity Church on a pretty dramatic day to make new friends.

Great choices for a lean room: heavenly bed, balcony facing the mountains, and warm hardwood floors.

This was the view from our yoga class. Shavasana.

I visited the front desk several times just to stare at her uniform.

The pool. The warm, long, cinematic pool.

Gym with a view... Spa with a view... You got it.

The end of a glorious candlelit dinner and one too many Chachas.

The drinks, the view, and the friendliest staff will keep you glued to their cozy leather couches.

Alpine retreat at its finest.

  • 1.800.Coziness. Never has a hotel common area been this yummy.

  • The food. All fresh produce is provided by locals farmers that their skillful chefs transform into seasonal dishes that have been passed down through generations.

  • We cannot wait to see them bid farewell to all plastic water bottles!
