The incredible lobby with historic, intricate ceilings with marble and ironwork dating back to the late 1800’s. Complimented by Donald Judd couches, Dali inspired lamps and a futuristic Ingo Maurer ‘chandelier’… oh and Macs, of course.

Originally 5 grand townhouses in 1875. Converted by 1909 into a hotel frequented by the likes of King George VII and Carl Faberge. Today the London EDITION. 173 rooms, The Berners Tavern restaurant by Jason Atherton, The Punch room, lobby bar and BASEMENT (basementLDN.com).

Probably the most beautiful restaurant in the world (there, I said it!) with food to match from Michelin star chef Jason Atherton (top bloke). As much a place for a burger and beer as it is for oysters and Champagne, with incredible service to boot!

The most stylish concierge desk in London.

This is the tough part… how to describe these beautiful rooms? A healthy dose of comfort, sophistication, enchantment and perfection!

Mini bar goodness. No plastic, EDITION Crafty Lager, Fountain of Youth coconut water and a lovely drop of Krug champagne. Salted Caramel popcorn, crackers for the bacon jam… BACON JAM! Pork scratchings, Malteasers and dark chocolate covered rice cakes… I mean…!!!

From left to right: the mighty Seb Chew programming music, DJs and Entertainment at BASEMENT; the extraordinarily talented Jason Atherton... and me.

Egg, bacon and peas has quickly become the must-have signature starter at Berners Tavern. Exec Chef Phil Carmichael is one talented man!

The Beautiful Punch Room. A reservations only cocktail bar nestled in the corner of the hotel with a focus on 2,4,6 or 8 person punch bowls, including the incredibly intriguing and silky smooth Milk Punch.. a MUST!

Punch room detail… pineapple and a silver ostrich, naturally.

The chic and sleek reception with a classic English tapestry and an installation by South Korean artist Chul Hyan Ahn.

Ian Schrager and Marriott CEO Arne Sorensen being interviewed for E! by Zanna Rassi, moments before the epic opening night party.

This is Daniele. Cutting ice for some of the best cocktails in London, created by Davide Segat, Stuart Bale and Nick Strangeway.

EDITION Cocktails in the event space BASEMENT. Rotating flavors of tasty, handcrafted, ready-to-stick-a-straw-in-
and-slurp cocktails!

Highs & Lows

  • The London EDITION is the most impressive hotel to open in years. It oozes elegance, sophistication and intrigue. It has a kind of highbrow / low stuffiness philosophy that’s been missing in London.

  • The service is impeccable...the staff has been trained by a highly skilled team from Ritz Carltons around the world.

  • The Food and Beverage offerings are second to none. Jason Atherton’s Berners Tavern is a restaurant for all occasions, at all times, with interesting signature dishes and impeccable staples (The Burger and Steaks are out of this world). The Punch room is quirky and inviting with exceptional cocktails and BASEMENT is slated to be the best music venue in London!

  • The rooms are silent. The blackout blinds are genius. Makes for the best night’s sleep you could possibly wish for.

  • Hands down the best mini bar selection I’ve seen. Organic orange biscuits, EDITION ‘Crafty’ lager made by local brewery Freedom, dark chocolate covered rice cakes, apple chips, Amelia Rope hazelnut and sea salt chocolate, Peppersmith mints, organic gummy bears… should I go on?
