At The Chapel I woke up far too early (about 5am) so I thought I’d tiptoe downstairs to see the bakers at work on the nightshift. The wood-fired oven’s temperature drops at night and is perfect for baking the bread for the morning before it is fired up again for the pizzas.

Highs & Lows

  • From the moment you step through the chapel doors you are welcomed into the Bruton community. Just sit in the restaurant for a while and you will soon witness unrivaled hospitality and friendliness…it really is the hub of the community.

  • The chapel has been lovingly restored and it’s really an impressive space. Not simply a restaurant with rooms, but a wine store with exceptional wines, bakery, clubroom and terrace. You won’t want to leave!

  • The food is seriously good! Somerset is abundant in great produce - free-range and organic meats, fresh fish from the Dorset coast, locally grown fruits, vegetables and herbs, and the team of chefs bring them together to create stunning dishes that are more than just pizzas!
