Highs & Lows

  • The service. I can't say enough good things about how accommodating, warm, and considerate everyone I met was. From dinner and thrift store recommendations, to anticipating morning coffee orders and giving me the recipe for their in-house chia seed pudding, it's the people that really shine here

  • The bed. After an early flight, a long bus, and one high-speed ferry, I was in need of a good night's sleep and this bed delivered. It's not often I specifically remember the bed at a hotel but this one stands out for being blissful

  • The size. It's an intimate stay and it feels that way. Those valuing privacy and peace will love this hotel, plus the property's design means it exists as a little world unto itself

  • The tech. The Brant has integrated tech in the most convenient ways. Need anything? Simply shoot the team a text. The whole property is keyless as well, and uses your own phone number, meaning you’re guaranteed to remember your code

  • There’s no on-site fitness center. While the walkable nature of the location and complimentary bike rentals will keep you active enough, you'll find no kettlebells or squat racks here

  • The location is along a main road, and while not too highly trafficked, bigger trucks passing can cause the occasional rattle

Important Bits

  • Type

    Boutique bed & breakfast

  • Vibe

    Carefully considered but unpretentious

  • Location

A short walk outside of town

  • Rooms

    26

  • Pre-Arrival & Arrival Experience

The Brant reaches out before your stay to ensure all the little things are accounted for pre-arrival. From there, it's a short walk from the ferry, through the front gate, and into the reception to check in

  • Future Forward

Nantucket has some serious regulations on single-use plastics, so you'll find no in-room water bottles (water-filling stations are in the hallway) or mini shower products here. Bath products are Further, made from recycled restaurant cooking oil, and vanity kit skincare is from Ursa Major, B Corp certified, vegan, and marine-safe

  • Music

The lounge and pool deck area have light music playing. In the mornings, it might be early 2000s pop or café-jazz. When I stopped by in the evening, it was nu-bossa / Brazilian lounge

  • Year Opened

    2024

  • Designed By

    Bergmeyer / Salt Hotels

  • Health & Wellness

The pool is front and center, the social hub of the hotel

  • Food

Onsite offerings are limited but don’t disappoint. Breakfast is included in the stay and is served daily in the lounge/reception area. Don’t miss out on the chia seed pudding; Jason, the GM, makes it in-house. A small but serviceable menu covers poolside snacks and evening bites

  • Bar, Events & Nightlife

The check-in counter also functions as a bar by night. I got the espresso martini which was a killer, and I’ve heard The Brant Old Fashioned is also a favorite. The recently refreshed drink menu also includes some NA cocktails

  • Minibar & Retail

The in-room mini bar is stocked with a mix of local options and classics, meaning you’ll find a bottle of Veuve Cliquot alongside a pale ale from the island’s own Cisco Brewers. Snacks include local Nantucket Crisps and some sweets

  • Accessibility

While the property pre-dates modern accessibility standards, accessible rooms are available, the website is accessible, and any necessary accommodations can be made

  • Pet Friendly

Yes! Pets are welcome for a fee (part of which is donated to local shelters)

  • Children

With all sorts of suite setups, and even an entire “apartment”, there are plenty of ways to stay with the little ones, including bunk rooms

  • Price

On par with the island, Nantucket isn’t for the frugal traveler
