"Wall Street, with much better bedside manners"
A remarkably comfortable stay in the heart of Lower Manhattan, The Wall Street Hotel brings warmth and personality to a century-old building at Wall and Pearl Streets. Liubasha Rose’s richly layered interiors draw on the area’s maritime history and the Paspaley family’s pearling heritage, while generous rooms, excellent food by Chef John Fraser and the inviting Lounge on Pearl make it especially easy to settle in.
Highs & Lows
-
The room. Beautiful, yes, but more importantly exceptionally comfortable: generous proportions, Frette linens, intuitive tech, excellent lighting, proper storage and heated bathroom floors. Design doing its job rather than asking for applause.
-
The history is everywhere without becoming theme-park New York: Tontine, pearls, maritime details, archival images. References are layered with just enough theatre.
-
Lounge on Pearl gives the hotel a real living room — and FiDi a particularly good place to settle in for a martini.
-
The food. From breakfast at La Marchande to room service in bed, Chef John Fraser has the hotel well covered.
-
Turndown service.
-
I left feeling like I had no notes. But a sauna (paired with and ice cold shower or plunge) would be a really exciting addition.
-
I've long enjoyed this southern tip of Manhattan but I have to remind myself that staying here means longer transit times to most of my places of interest in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Plan logistics accordignly.
Important Bits
-
Type
Luxury Hotel
-
Vibe
Old New York, made wonderfully comfortable: plush, polished and residential, with the rare feeling that everything is exactly where it should be
-
Location
At Wall and Pearl Streets, in the historic heart of Lower Manhattan, where the Tontine Coffee House once helped shape New York’s early securities market. Pearl Street follows the old East River shoreline, named for the oyster shells that once covered it, with the Seaport and waterfront just a few blocks away.

Pre-Arrival & Arrival Experience
Polished and straightforward. The hotel’s identity is clear before arrival: serious about hospitality, with a lighter take on its buttoned-up surroundings.
-
Future Forward
The strongest local initiative is the partnership with Billion Oyster Project, supporting restoration of New York Harbor’s oyster reefs. The hotel also works to reduce single-use plastics and foregrounds contemporary Australian Aboriginal art through its relationship with the APY Art Centre Collective.
-
Music
Low-key and grown-up in the public spaces; occasional live jazz in Lounge on Pearl.
-
Year Opened
2022
-
Designed By
Interiors are by Liubasha Rose of Rose Ink Workshop, who imagined the hotel around a female muse — a deliberate way of bringing warmth, color and a residential sensibility to an address historically associated with finance and masculinity. Rose led the interiors while Stonehill Taylor handled the architecture; La Marchande was designed by Vicky Charles and Julia Corden of Charles & Co.
-
Health & Wellness
No spa, but a very capable 24-hour gym with Peloton and Rogue equipment, private trainers on request, plus complimentary Vélosophy bikes. The heated floors, generous bathrooms and, in some rooms, freestanding tubs make for an excellent post-workout—or post-workday—recovery.
-
Food
Celebrated Chef John Fraser oversees La Marchande, a modern French market bistro with a vegetable-forward hand, while in-room dining means staying in is an actual dinner plan, not a concession.
-
Bar, Events & Nightlife
Lounge on Pearl is the hotel’s social heart: martinis, deep chairs, a reclaimed Waldorf Astoria fireplace and enough theatricality to make Wall Street interesting after the closing bell. Seasonal Bar Tontine takes things upstairs for downtown and river views
-
Minibar & Retail
A proper freestanding bar cart rather than a drawer of snacks. Best detail: the oyster-shell bottle opener supporting Billion Oyster Project
-
Accessibility
ADA-compliant rooms are available; the hotel reports accessible entrances to its food and beverage venues, lobby and registration, plus wheelchairs on request and valet service for accessible vehicles.
-
Pet Friendly
Yes. Beds, bowls and toys can be arranged
-
Children
Yes
-
Price
Reassuringly expensive, but the room earns its keep.

Wall and Pearl Streets sit at the oldest, most storied end of Manhattan, but Lower Manhattan is no longer somewhere you visit only for the Stock Exchange or a ferry. The Seaport, waterfront, Tin Building, Printemps, Pier 17 and a growing cultural scene make downtown a destination in its own right.
