Highs & Lows

  • Stepping into Romer Hell’s Kitchen’s lobby felt like entering a hip fashion editor’s living room—massive, sun-drenched, and worlds away from city chaos. The vibe is eclectic, inviting, and always buzzing, with plenty of seating to unwind, work, or catch up with friends. Just off the main space is The Study, a cozy lounge and co-working nook complete with a fireplace. No soulless, gilded grandeur here—just good energy and great design.

  • My spacious room felt like a dream apartment—soul-soothing colors, bold accents, custom furniture, and quirky-cool lighting. The bed? 10/10. Teal walls with fun local art added a creative, lived-in vibe, and the massive velvet green couch by the window was so perfect for lounging, I took a cat nap on it.

  • Their sexy and swanky piano bar, So & So’s, offers an unforgettable experience. Expect speakeasy vibes, strong cocktails, delicious bites, live music ranging from Broadway belters to jazz crooners, and the chance to mingle with a lively, stylish crowd.

  • Lots of warm, genuine hospitality.

  • No on-site pool or gym—something I personally never miss.

Important Bits

  • Type

    Neighborhood gem

  • Vibe

A wildly charming and colorful, art-filled home away from home in NYC

  • Location

Right in the ever-vibrant heart of Hell’s Kitchen!

  • Rooms

295 dreamily designed guest rooms and suites

  • Pre-Arrival & Arrival Experience

The website covers everything you need to know before arrival. Check-in was smooth and swift, with warm, attentive service. Upon arrival, you receive a QR code to scan that provides detailed info about the hotel’s amenities, special events, and more.

  • Future Forward

No single-use plastics in sight—just canned water and a linen reuse card. During my stay, the hotel had just hosted a Plastic-Free Month workshop with Ella Emhoff and Hydro Flask, where guests upcycled T-shirts into crocheted water bottle holders. A+ on the eco front.

  • Music

“Native New Yorker” - Odyssey + “New York” - Addison Rae = Romer Hell’s Kitchen

  • Year Opened

    2023

  • Designed By

Goodrich NYC designed the lobby and public spaces, while New York-based, women-owned and -run Islyn Studio designed the guest rooms

  • Health & Wellness

Romer doesn’t have an on-site fitness center or pool, but guests can stay active with complimentary passes to a nearby Crunch Fitness and bike rentals

  • Food

Grab pastries, bites, and coffee at the all-day Neighborhood Café just off the lobby. For dinner, make a resy at So & So’s. There are plenty of shareable dishes on the menu, but I happily devoured a mouthwatering plate of Pasta alla Norma and nursed a cocktail or three at the bar while live jazz filled the swanky space.

  • Bar, Events & Nightlife

So & So’s is a velvet-drenched piano bar and supper club that oozes old-school glamour—I half-expected Frank Sinatra to be holding court at the bar. One night it’s a jazz pianist, the next a Broadway star. The “Some Like It Hot” cocktail? Still dreaming about it. Bonus: the hotel hosts cool events like figure drawing and panel talks in the lobby and The Study.

  • Minibar & Retail

Who needs a minibar when the Corner Store exists? This bodega-style lobby shop is stocked with locally made gifts, books, snacks, travel essentials, and limited-edition Romer merch. I left with a tote and mug I’m still obsessed with.

  • Accessibility

The hotel offers several ADA guest rooms, including suites. Hearing-accessible accommodations come equipped with visual alarms, while mobility-accessible ones feature roll-in rain showers and grab bars.

  • Pet Friendly

I didn’t spot any furry friends, but pets are welcome and well treated—think dog beds, treats, and bowls waiting in-room. Nearby, The Barking Dog offers pet perks too (snacks for pups, frozen drinks for humans), plus a daily “Yappy Hour” with 50% off cocktails.

  • Children

Yes, with cribs available upon requeest

  • Best Tme to Stay

Visiting NYC is always a good idea—even when the weather is problematic. Romer’s beds are exactly the kind made for stay-in-bed days.

  • Price

Perfectly priced for the neighborhood, the divine rooms, the many amenities, etc.!
